About Human Science

Food, clothing and shelter are the fundamental needs of a human being. Human Science explores a way of knowing human physiology, human nutrition, human needs and the best way to meet those needs by applying scientific interventions. Human Science defines, through research, the role of foods, clothing, shelter, physical and mental development of a human being and its components in optimizing human health. Students develop an understanding of the scientific concepts and principles in the contexts of physical, earth/space, and living systems that can be applied to solve human problems.

The Department of Human Science focuses on research towards understanding how the human development, the dietary components (food), the textile industry (clothing) interact with physiological, sociological and environmental factors and affect the health of the population so diversified by gender, ethnicity, lifestyle and environment. Human science also brings to light the importance of interior decoration (shelter) and thus caters to all the needs of a human race. Technological development is not linear, but exponential, and this explosive rate of change means that human life will soon be irreversibly transformed. Our ultimate concern and the primary objective of this national conference is in the best interest of the next generation.

Keeping the above in mind, the Department of Human Science has brought out an Inter-disciplinary National Half Yearly Research Journal entitled “Indian Journal of Human Science” since July 2005. The Department will launch the release of the first few copies of the journal during this seminar.
